CurriculumOur rigorous yet flexible curriculum provides students with the academic foundation, skills, and confidence needed for success in university and beyond. To earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), students complete 30 credits across a wide range of subject areas, including 17 compulsory credits and 13 elective credits.
Trillium School’s STEM Program is designed to cultivate critical thinkers through an enriched curriculum and engaging learning experiences in science, mathematics, and computer science and technology, both inside and beyond the classroom. The program provides enriched learning opportunities for students who are passionate about STEM by encouraging them to apply their knowledge and skills through an interdisciplinary approach. Students develop critical thinking, analytical reasoning, creativity, and problem-solving skills while exploring authentic, real-world challenges. At Trillium School, STEM education emphasizes active, hands-on learning. Students take on the roles of innovators, creators, investigators, and problem-solvers, developing creative and practical solutions to real-world issues. Through these experiences, they build the knowledge, confidence, and adaptability needed to thrive in an ever-changing, interconnected world.
Unique Elements: > Through school-wide registration, all our high school students participate annually in various national and international mathematics and computing contests, including those organized by the University of Waterloo. > Each year, around 30% of our high school students earn a Certificate of Distinction (awarded to the top 25% of all contestants worldwide) in these mathematics and computing contests. Among them, some students are further recognized on the Honour Roll (awarded to the top 5% of all contestants worldwide). > Trillium School has achieved Team Honour Roll recognition multiple times in the University of Waterloo Mathematics Contests, an honour recognizing the top 50 schools among all participating schools. > Weekly mathematics and computing contest preparation courses starting in Grade 9 > Experiential learning through outdoor education that guides skill development > Interdisciplinary cross-curricular culminating activities > Some of our high school students achieved outstanding mathematics contest results and were invited to the prestigious University of Waterloo Lloyd Auckland Invitational Mathematics Workshop, which annually selects around 90 of the top Grade 11 students across Canada based on their mathematics contest performance.
Community involvement is an integral part of the educational experience at Trillium School. As part of the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), students must complete a minimum of 40 hours of community involvement. The community involvement requirement encourages students to develop a strong sense of civic responsibility while recognizing the positive role they can play in supporting and strengthening their communities. Through meaningful volunteer experiences, students develop leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills while gaining a deeper understanding of social responsibility and global citizenship. Through our partnerships with local organizations, students have access to a variety of volunteer opportunities that enable them to fulfill their community involvement requirement while making meaningful contributions to their communities.
Trillium School offers a wide range of co-curricular and academic enrichment programs during the daily after-school session from 3:35-4:45pm. These programs support and complement classroom learning, enrich students’ educational experiences, and foster well-rounded development across academics, intellectual pursuits, leadership, social skills, arts, and athletics. At Trillium, we believe in experiential learning. Our core curriculum is supported by a wide range of engaging outdoor education programs and monthly field trips. Through these experiences, students develop leadership and teamwork skills, face real-world challenges, and grow intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially, all within a safe and supportive learning environment. Trillium School’s residence is professionally managed by an experienced residence team, providing high-quality and comfortable accommodation for students in Grades 7-12. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive living and learning environment where students feel at home and develop a strong sense of belonging. Located in a safe residential neighbourhood, the residence is approximately a 10-15 minute drive from the school and is conveniently close to shopping centres, restaurants, and other everyday amenities.
Every boarding student is a valued member of our residence community. Living together with students from diverse cultural backgrounds provides opportunities to build lasting friendships while developing respect, cooperation, and interpersonal skills. Residence life also encourages students to become independent, responsible, and compassionate individuals by helping them develop essential life skills that prepare them for university and future success.

Yes. The STEM program covers Science, Math, and Computer Technology through enriched curriculum, contests, cross-curricular activities, and learning beyond the classroom. It helps students build critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Yes. Students take part in outdoor education, monthly field trips, extracurricular activities, contests, and experiential learning opportunities. These activities are meant to support academic learning while helping students grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually.
Community involvement is part of the school program. Students must complete at least 40 hours of community service for the OSSD, and Trillium’s local partnerships provide opportunities to earn those hours while building civic responsibility.
Yes. Boarding is available, especially for international students. Residences offer a home-like setting with meals, 24/7 supervision, full-time residential staff, transportation to and from school, furnished rooms, wireless internet, laundry, and support between parents and the school.
