Each month, one Elementary class is responsible for preparing a presentation for assembly. Each one of these has a specific theme that requires the students to research and prepare ahead of time. This, we feel, is a great way for the students to develop responsibility and leadership skills. Over the course of preparing these assemblies, we have seen all the students thoroughly enjoying themselves.
And you’re invited (if you didn’t know already)! Come join us when your child’s class hosts one of our monthly class assemblies! To find out when, please speak to your child’s homeroom teacher.
[Update] Leaders In Training Job Board
We have been developing strong and effective leaders at Trillium for years through our Leaders in Training program. This year, many of the volunteer job opportunities that are available to our senior students have been formalized and presented on the new Job Board located next to the Music Room.
The job board features ‘Help Wanted’ postings for positions such as Library Helper, Event Planner, and Newsletter Writer. Each posting clearly states the skills and character traits that successful applicants should possess. When students ‘apply for a job’, they are required to complete an application form, including asking one teacher to act as a reference for them!
Congratulations to all those students already hired and currently doing a great job – their names are posted on the Job Board. Throughout the year, new jobs will be regularly presented, giving students plenty of opportunity to hone their leadership skills and to ‘learn by doing’.
[Update] Student Events Committee
A new committee has been formed this year led by the grade 7 and 8 students. The purpose of the group is to generate more school events for the students that will further foster school spirit and a sense of community. Keep an eye out for some of their events coming soon and please show your support where possible.
